The Gates to Champagne

Two Champagne houses. Two family homes. One journey guests will spend years talking about.

Encountr took four couples inside Château de Louvois and Château de la Marquetterie — the actual family homes of Laurent-Perrier and Taittinger.

It won't run in this exact form again, but ask us what's next. In April 2026, four couples travelled by Eurostar into two family stories rather than two vineyards.

This was private access to Laurent-Perrier and Taittinger at a level most collectors never reach. Guests stayed in one of just four original guestrooms at Château de Louvois, Laurent-Perrier's historic seat, once home to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

Lucie Pereyre de Nonancourt, fourth generation of the family, hosted a black-tie dinner at the home alongside a tasting of Grand Siècle and Salon, in gardens laid out by Le Nôtre, of Versailles fame.

The following day led guests to the vineyards of Salon and Delamotte, where blind tastings of exclusive vintages became lore from the trip.

The evening belonged to Taittinger: a private vineyard tour, lunch on the estate, and dinner at Château de la Marquetterie, the family's own home, with wine drawn from their private cellar.
